In 1449, Constantine Palaeologus is crowned emperor of Byzantium. The people greeted him with relief. They hoped that with the proper administration of the new emperor, Byzantium would prosper again. Paleologos, indeed, organized the state under the threat of ambitious Muhammad the second, who was aiming to conquer Constantinople. With innumerable and well-equipped army, Muhammad begins the attacks. The few but Greeks fight and defend themselves like lions. On May 29, 1453, with a massive attack the City falls and Constantine Palaeologus becomes the last emperor.
