Attention College Students!
The 2015/16 PanHellenic Scholarship Application is HERE!
The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation is excited to announce that its 2015/16 scholarship application is now available. The Foundation will accept applications from eligible Greek American college students through February 1, 2016 and will distribute $250,000 in scholarship awards to 40 exceptional undergraduates as follows:
Twenty (20) Awards of $10,000 each based on academic achievement and financial need
Twenty (20) Awards of $2,500 each based solely on academic achievement
Chris P. Tomaras founded the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation in 1998. Since then, the Foundation has championed higher education and achievement by awarding close to $2.3 million in scholarships to 324 Greek-American students. The $250,000 in annual scholarships is the largest amount awarded to undergraduates of Hellenic descent by any public foundation in the United States.
The need for financial resources among college students has never been greater. The total cost of attendance for college students at four-year degree-granting institutions has increased an astounding 39% over the past decade. In 2002, the average cost of attendance at four-year public universities was $15,262. By 2013, the cost had risen to $22,190 at public institutions and $44,370 at private nonprofit institutions. Not surprisingly, more students rely on financial aid, grants, and scholarships to help alleviate the cost of higher education. A record 85% of undergraduate students at four-year institutions received financial aid by 2013. Even so, about 60% of students who earned bachelor's degrees in 2012-13 graduated with debt.
The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation recognizes that students and their families often make difficult choices in order to finance their college education, especially as the cost of college tuition continues to rise. The Foundation seeks to assist deserving college students, and help them clear this financial hurdle, through its scholarship awards.
Undergraduates of Hellenic descent from all fifty states are encouraged to apply. Applications should be postmarked by February 1, 2016.

"Being a recipient of the PanHellenic Scholarship is much more than a signifier of one's own personal academic merit or commitment to one's education; it is also a respected honor within the Greek-American community and one that each year distinguishes the next generation of exceptional Greek American thinkers." - Athanasia Giannetos, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, 2014/15 Award Recipient
