Information on the Master’s Degree in Southeast European Studies, taught in English at the University of Athens

The Postgraduate Programme in “Southeast European Studies”, which is in its fourteenth year of operation, will accept up to twenty-five (25) students for the academic year 2013-2014. It is one-year English-speaking Master’s programme taught entirely in English at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. It offers interdisciplinary education in social sciences, specialising in the study of the region of Southeastern Europe and it gives students the possibility to spend a year at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The Programme was originally created in 1999 as part of a broader project entitled “Cooperation of Universities for the promotion of stability, human rights and sustainable peace in Southeastern Europe” (known as “U/SEE Project”), with participating universities from 11 countries in Southeastern Europe. Now it functions as an autonomous Postgraduate Programme of the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

In pursuit of the Programme’s aims as outlined above, the Coordinating Committee grants exemption from the Programme fees to students with citizenship of the following specified Southeast European countries who are not in receipt of a scholarship from any source: Albania , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Bulgaria , Croatia , Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244, Montenegro , Romania , Serbia , the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia .
