The Foundation Is Excited to Introduce Interim Executive Director Angelo Bravos
Chicago, IL - The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation is happy to announce the appointment of Angelo Bravos, Ph.D., as its Interim Executive Director. Angelo will assume the role that was made available by Yanni Valsamas' appointment to the Board of Directors and departure from the Executive Director position, effective January 1, 2017. Valsamas has accepted a new position as Chief Operating Officer of Autoagent, a property tax software company.

Board Chairman Robert Buhler said, "We are very pleased to announce Angelo's appointment and are excited to welcome him to the PanHellenic family. Angelo is committed to the mission of the Foundation, and has a breadth of experience in philanthropy and education. We are very fortunate and thrilled to have him as a part of the Foundation. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Anastasia Svigos, member of our Board of Directors, for her dedication and time spent on our search for an interim executive director. Thank you also to John Manos, Treasurer of the Foundation, and Tom Sotos, Secretary, for their involvement in efficiently interviewing and reviewing candidates, and for their assistance in bringing Dr. Bravos on board." Dr. Bravos' background includes leadership experience in both the higher education and information technology (IT) sectors, including five years in philanthropy and fundraising, and fifteen years of management and strategic planning roles in IT. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and previously served as Senior Director of University Advancement at Judson University, where he serves as Adjunct Professor in the School of Leadership and Business. Dr. Bravos has also worked at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Elgin Community College. Currently, he serves as the President of the United Hellenic Voters of America and President of the St. Charles Rotary Club, and is a board member at the Foundation of Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was formerly the President of the Saint Charles Library Foundation and former Director of the District 303 Education Foundation.

Valsamas said of the appointment, "I am very confident that Angelo will be a great addition to the Foundation and will capably lead the organization as it grows and continues to fulfill its mission. He comes to us with many ideas and an entirely new perspective, and I am looking forward to working with him in my new role as a Board Member."

"I am very excited to join the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to promoting my two passions, Education and Hellenism," Dr. Bravos remarked. "I look forward to working with Mr. Buhler, the Board, the staff and the generous partners and donors in order to preserve and advance the wonderful legacy that the late Mr. Chris Tomaras started."

The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation will once again award $250,000 in scholarships to exceptional Greek American undergraduates at the next Awards Ceremony and Gala on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Hilton Chicago. You can register to receive your invitation to the gala here. On behalf of all of us at the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, we warmly welcome you, Dr. Bravos!
