Quarter of a Million to be Awarded to 25 Greek American Students



Dr. Peter H. Diamandis to be honored with Paradigm Award

Former anchor of CNN and CNBC John Metaxas to Emcee



Chicago, IL - Sept. 26, 2008 The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation will award $250,000 in grants of $10,000 each to the nation's twenty-five best and brightest Greek-American students at this year's ceremony on Saturday, November 15, 2008. With record number of applications received, the Academic Committee is carefully evaluating all applicants and the results will be announced on October 17, 2008. "We are very pleased by the high caliber of the candidates and their stories of success. They certainly are outstanding performers," said Mr. Chris Tomaras, Chairman of the Foundation.



The Foundation's 2008 Awards Gala will be held at the University Club of Chicago. Dr. Peter Diamandis, Chairman and CEO of Zero Gravity Corporation and the driving force behind the X Prize Foundation, will be honored with the 2008 Paradigm Award. The event will be emceed by attorney, journalist and former anchor of CNN and CNBC John Metaxas. The reception will begin at 7 p.m. in the Library Hall and dinner at 8 p.m. in the Cathedral Hall. A performance by Dimitris Marinos, who has been hailed by critics around the world as the leading mandolinist today, will entertain the guests.



A number of distinguished guests will attend the Foundation's event this year. Among them, John P. Calamos, Sr., Chairman and CEO of Calamos Investments, and Dr. Constantine Papadakis, President of Drexel University, both 2007 and 2006 Paradigm Award recipients, respectively. Dr. Papadakis announced that Drexel University will match each scholarship given by the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation to students applying to Drexel.

"The financial commitment of the Foundation is overwhelming. The realization of its mission depends on the continued generosity of members of our community and friends like you," said Mr. John Apostolou, Chairman of the Advisory Board and major contributor. By contributing to the means of funding a first-rate education, and helping relieve the burden of that effort, the Foundation hopes to provide our youth a platform for significant accomplishments over the course of their lives.
